Alba Baptista
Alba Baptista (born July 10, 1997) is a Portuguese-Brazilian actress. She started her career in Portugal with the telenovela Jardins Proibidos (2014-2015). She then starred in several Portuguese telenovelas and series such as A Impostora, Filha da Lei, A Criação and Jogo Duplo.
Since 2020, she has been participating in the Netflix series “Warrior Nun”, which became her English-language debut.
Early life
Baptista was born in Lisbon, Portugal. Her Portuguese mother worked as a translator in Brazil, where she met a Brazilian engineer from Rio de Janeiro. In addition to her native Portuguese, she speaks English, Spanish, French and German.
Career
At the age of 16, Alba Baptista started her career as the main character in the short film “Miami” by Simane Cayatte. For her performance, she won the Best Actress award at the Iberian Film Festival. In the years that followed, Alba developed a powerful film career in Portugal and also starred in three popular Portuguese series.
Her film credits include Edgar Per’s Caminhos Magnétykos, in which she played the role of Katarina; and Equinocio Ivo Ferreira.
She will soon be seen in the feature film “Fatima” opposite Harvey Keitel, Sonia Braga and Joana Ribeiro, directed by Marco Pontecorvo. In 2019, she appeared in Patrick, the directorial debut of Gonzalo Waddington, which competed at the San Sebastian International Film Festival where it premiered. Alba starred in the lead role of “Eva” in the Netflix series Warrior Nun, which premiered on July 2, 2020.
She is represented by UTA Talents in the USA, Subtitle Talent in the UK and Elite Lisbon in Portugal.
